3 kinds of gifts

03/02/09

The materialistic gifts oriented to create a debt with someone. A gift given only to express or submission or the demand to have something back.

The symbolic gifts given only for the pleasure of the people, as naive way to express feelings and their emotion. Gift becomes a symbol.

The Christian gift which is totally given, not only for the people who receives it. This gift is total, absolute, doesn't imply any kind of return and is a risk for the donors, the risk of the Cross, the risk of the Love.

So non-christian people are unable to make absolute and uninterested gifts...I think your classification is a bit reductive.

A Christian gift could be given also from non-Christian people, because (for Christianism) definitions don't matter, really relevant are the actions.

Interesting point of view. However, it seems that your concept of Christianism is not very diffused nor popular nowadays...especially inside the Church itself.

Remember that in the Vatican II council it had been introduced the willingness to pray everytime for "Christians and men with good willingness" [I don't know how exactly they translated it in English...].
